If you’re looking for a Book Bolt review from someone who actually uses it for Amazon KDP, this guide will show you how I use it, what I’ve tested and what I think beginners should know before deciding whether it suits them.
I already use Book Bolt as part of my own KDP workflow, and recently I tested its newer AI creation tools as well. Rather than simply listing features, I want to show you where I think Book Bolt can be useful, where beginners may need a little patience, and how I would approach it if I were starting today.
This is not a sponsored review — I’m sharing my own experience as a Book Bolt user.
What is Book Bolt?
Book Bolt is a collection of tools created for Amazon KDP publishers. It combines research, keyword tools and book-creation features in one platform, so you can move from exploring an idea through to preparing a book for publishing.
I mainly use it for researching book ideas and niches, looking at keywords and working inside Book Bolt Studio. Studio is the part of the platform where you can create and format covers and interiors for KDP, including journals, colouring books, activity books and other book projects. Book Bolt also now includes AI-assisted creation tools and puzzle generators
You do not have to use every feature. I think it makes more sense for beginners to start with the part that solves the problem they have right now.
Watch: I Tried Book Bolt’s AI Creator
Prefer to watch? In this video, I go inside my Book Bolt account and test the AI Creator for myself, including the process I used for an adult colouring book project.
This Book Bolt review is based on my own experience using the platform rather than simply looking at the features listed on the Book Bolt website.
I’ll continue adding Book Bolt tutorials as I explore more of the platform, so you can see how the different tools work before deciding whether they’re useful for you.
How I Use Book Bolt
I use Book Bolt as part of my Amazon KDP workflow, mainly for researching ideas, exploring niches and creating book projects. I don’t use every tool inside the platform every time — I tend to use the features that help me move a particular idea forward.
You can also see the other tools I use to create and build my online business in my Toolbox.
Researching book ideas and niches
Before I start creating a book, I like to spend some time looking at what is already selling on Amazon and whether there appears to be room for another product. Book Bolt gives me tools that help me explore niches, keywords and existing listings so I can make a more informed decision before I start designing.
Creating books in Book Bolt Studio
I also use Book Bolt Studio to work on interiors and covers for KDP projects. Having the research and creation tools in the same platform can make the process easier, especially when you’re still learning how KDP works.
Testing the AI creation tools
More recently, I’ve been testing Book Bolt’s AI creation features. In the video above, I used the AI Creator while exploring an adult colouring book idea. I wanted to see what the process was really like, rather than simply relying on the promotional examples.
AI can help speed up parts of the creative process, but I still think it’s important to review the results carefully and make sure the finished product is something you would genuinely be happy to publish.
What I like about Book Bolt
Everything is in one place
One thing I like about Book Bolt is that it brings research and creation tools together. Instead of jumping between several different platforms, I can move from researching an idea into creating a book project within the same system.
It can simplify the KDP process
Amazon KDP can feel complicated when you’re starting out. Book Bolt doesn’t remove the need to learn the basics, but it can make some parts of the process easier to manage because the tools are built around KDP publishing.
It gives me ideas to explore
I find the research side particularly useful when I’m looking for possible niches or trying to understand what types of books are already available. I still make my own decisions about what to create, but the data gives me another piece of information to work with.
The newer AI tools are useful to experiment with
I like being able to test newer tools inside a platform I already use. The AI Creator can help generate starting points and speed up parts of the creative process, although I still think the results need to be reviewed and refined before publishing.
Book Bolt Review: What Beginners Should Know
Book Bolt can be helpful, but I wouldn’t approach it as a shortcut to guaranteed KDP income. You still need to understand your niche, create something useful and appealing, check your files carefully and learn the publishing process.
There are also quite a few tools inside Book Bolt, so the platform can feel like a lot when you first log in. My suggestion would be to learn one feature at a time rather than trying to understand everything at once.
I’d also avoid creating a book simply because a piece of software suggests a niche. Use the research as one part of your decision-making and then think about whether you can create something genuinely useful or enjoyable for the person who will buy it.
Who Book Bolt May Suit
I think Book Bolt is most useful for people who are actively interested in Amazon KDP and want tools that can help with both research and book creation.
Book Bolt may suit you if you:
- want to explore Amazon KDP niches and book ideas
- are creating low-content or activity-style books
- want research and creation tools in one place
- prefer having software designed specifically around KDP
- are willing to learn the platform gradually rather than expecting instant results
Who Book Bolt May Not Suit
Book Bolt probably isn’t necessary for everyone.
It may not be the right fit if you:
- are not planning to publish through Amazon KDP
- only want to create the occasional book and are happy using separate tools are looking for a completely automated “click a button and make money” system
- don’t want to spend time researching, reviewing and improving what you create
For me, Book Bolt is a tool that supports the publishing process. It doesn’t replace your judgement, your ideas or the work involved in creating a product people actually want.
How Much Does Book Bolt Cost?
Book Bolt currently offers two main plans: Pro and Premium. Both include a 3-day free trial, and you can choose monthly or annual billing.
Pro
The Pro plan is currently US$23.99 per month, or US$19.99 per month when billed annually. It includes keyword and product research, Book Bolt Studio, KDP Spy, puzzle creation tools, 1,000 monthly AI credits and customer support.
Premium
The Premium plan is currently US$35.99 per month, or US$29.99 per month when billed annually. It includes everything in Pro, plus 4,000 monthly AI credits, premium graphic packs, early access to beta features and premium support.
For someone just starting with KDP, I would look closely at what features you actually need before choosing a plan. If your main goal is research, book creation and learning the platform, the lower plan may be enough to begin with. If you are creating more regularly or using the AI tools heavily, the extra credits and features in Premium may be more useful.
Pricing can change, so always check Book Bolt’s current pricing page before subscribing.

My Final Thoughts on Book Bolt
Book Bolt is one of the tools I use as part of my Amazon KDP workflow because it brings research and creation features together in one place.
What I like most is that I can move from exploring an idea into creating a book project without having to jump between lots of different tools. I also like being able to test newer features, such as the AI Creator, while still keeping control over what I actually publish.
I don’t think any software should be treated as a shortcut to guaranteed income. The most important part is still choosing a sensible idea, creating something useful or enjoyable, and checking the finished product carefully before publishing.
If you’re already exploring Amazon KDP and want a platform that combines research, book creation and newer AI-assisted tools, Book Bolt may be worth looking at.
